Stonehaven are really proud to be sponsoring the 2021 Exeter Dementia Action Alliance Calendar. All the artwork is created by award winning Cartoonist Tony Husband, a friend of Stonehaven. The calendar is a great way to share the work of the EDAA across the city, raise local awareness about dementia through 2021 and enable them to continue their amazing work on a sustainable basis. Gina Awad, founder of the alliance popped into Dove Tree House last week to deliver some of the calendars hot off the press – they look fantastic!
Residents enjoyed a trip down memory lane for the VJ (Victory over Japan) Day Celebrations on the 15th August. They watched a video and played music from 1945. They also enjoyed a truth session, answering questions about how it may have affected them as children or young adults. A few of the residents admitted to having American boyfriends and other shared such funny stories, they all in hoots of laughter! A lovely tea was served and the dining room beautifully decorated for the occasion.

Lock down and lack of visitors has meant looking at alternative sources of entertainment. The residents and staff at Dove Tree House have been having loads of fun with some good old traditional toys and games. Table Football the absolute favourite – although it’s all getting a bit competitive!
The weather has certainly helped us to facilitate outdoor visits for our residents and their families and friends. Thank you to all of you for your cooperation and respect of the guidelines. Long may the sun continue to shine whilst we work on our longer term visiting plan for the Autumn and beyond.
