Congratulations to The Manor in Exminster – two of its care team are finalists at the ‘Outstanding Care Awards for Devon & Cornwall 2018’. George Vazdoaga is a finalist in the ‘Care Newcomer’ category and Kayleigh Nowlan, the ‘Activity Organiser’ category. They have been invited to attend a glittering awards evening to be held at the Livermead Hotel in Torquay on Friday 8th June. Good luck to both of you! 
Congratulations to Kayleigh Nowlam, our fantastic Activities Organiser at The Manor in Exminster, who is a semi-finalist at the ‘Outstanding Care Awards 2018.’ Kayleigh has been at The Manor for two years, and is loved by the residents and staff alike. She is always coming up with creative new ideas for entertainment, which contribute enormously to the success of The Manor. Finalists will be announced next week – good luck Kayleigh!
The wishing tree at The Manor is a wonderful idea, encouraging residents to think about something they have always wanted to do, but never had the opportunity. Heather is 85 and has recently recovered from a hip operation following a fall. She has always wanted to ride a horse. And yesterday, thanks to the Acorns & Squirrels Group, based at Oaklands Riding Centre in Alphington, her wish came true! It took eight people to get Heather onto the horse, but it was absolutely worth it, to see the joy on her face!
On Sunday, the ladies of the Stonehaven Support Office took part in the Muddifords Court Cheese Run in aid of the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance. 180 people ran or walked the route from Burlescombe Village, along the beautiful Great Western Canal Path, to Muddifords Court Country House, where they enjoyed a family fun day! Bouncy castles, face painting, live music, cheese toasties and beer. It was a fantastic day, the sun shone and all the money raised went to the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance.
Huge Congratulations to Joan at The Manor, who turned 100 a couple of weeks ago. A card arrived from The Queen, which has been framed and put on her bedroom wall. A party was held in her honour, with the dining room decorated with balloons and bunting, and tables set out in banqueting style. Friends, family and fellow residents enjoyed party food, cake and a glass or two of sherry. Joan refused to let any harm come to the donkey pinata, so it stayed intact for the duration of the party!
I love this tree! Staff and residents at The Manor have made it, and everyone is invited to write down their wish on an apple and add it to the tree. What a lovely idea!
