Tony Husband Book Reading

Tony Husband; Book Reading Event

As members of the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance, Stonehaven were invited to a book reading by Tony Husband, of his  book ‘Take Care, Son; The Story of My Dad and his Dementia.’ It was an extremely moving and beautifully illustrated account of his father’s experience of living with dementia.  Tony’s book is an important inclusion in the National Reading Well Dementia book collection. The event was hosted by EDAA member Stephens Scown solicitors, and we were all treated to a cream tea.

The book is available to buy through Amazon:

Stonehaven Support relocate to Linhay

Stonehaven Support Team Relocate

Stonehaven Care Group is supported by and run by people who look upon caring for the elderly very seriously and they employ a total 300 employees in their ten care homes based across Devon & Cornwall and the central support office.  The results of those employees’ efforts to date had already recently included the inauguration (in late 2016) of ‘Primrose House’… an exceptionally luxurious, spacious and extensively equipped new care home in Westward Ho!

Acting on behalf of Stonehaven Care Group, property consultants Alder King have completed the freehold disposal of Unit 4C Linhay Business Park in Ashburton, Devon.  The West Country-based Stonehaven Care Group acquired the edge of town office unit.

The business park’s location has easy access to the A38 trunk road, approximately half way between Plymouth and Exeter, enabling Stonehaven to oversee its network of Care homes: in Brixham, Exeter, Exminster, Okehampton, Bodmin, Westward Ho! and Tavistock.

Linhay Business Park is an edge of town office campus development on the outskirts of Ashburton.  The scheme totals some 70,000 sq ft of office and light industrial space and is home to occupiers including Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, Age Concern and Motorola.

Stonehaven’s new premises provide 4,265 sq ft (396 sq m) of modern air conditioned office accommodation within a courtyard development and comes with 20 parking spaces.

Joy Lovell of Dove Tree and Mayor Cynthia Thompson

Remembering the Exeter Blitz of 1942

Dove Tree resident, Joy Lovell, was invited to join Mayor Cynthia Thompson at the Guildhall in Exeter, for tea last Thursday morning. They were joined by other local residents who remember the Exeter blitz of 4th May 1942. Joy was 12 years old and living on South Street, which was heavily bombed – 52 shops on the street were demolished that night. The Mayor gave a very moving speech, read some poetry, and talked about her own family’s memories of the night that killed 156 and injured 563 in Exeter. We then took Joy on the short stroll from the Guildhall to the top of South Street, which has now been completely rebuilt. It was an emotional morning for Joy and the others, but wonderful to be in their presence as they reminisced about their amazing lives in the city.
