Going the extra mile for The Care Workers Charity

Going the extra mile for The Care Workers Charity

Today, the Stonehaven Support team walked a mile at lunchtime to raise money for The Care Workers Charity, a fantastic charity dedicated to helping current, former and retired care workers. Help is offered in the form of hardship grants and online information and advice. Despite the rain, we got out there and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air and scenic romp around the country lanes. We wil be sending our donations to the CWC on Friday if anybody would like to sponsor us for our efforts.

Exeter Dementia Action Alliance

An uplifting afternoon with the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance

As a supporter of the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance, Stonehaven were lucky enough to be invited along to to Stephens Scown Solicitors in Southernay, Exeter for an afternoon of creative networking. We were treated to a play by Brian Daniels ‘Don’t Leave me Now’ about the impact of dementia on two families. The cast of five, delivered an emotional and brutally honest account of living with dementia. After a break of cream tea and fantastic cake, we were introduced to Chris and Jayne, who have appeared on Panorama talking about their own experience of dementia. Chris was diagnosed with vascular dementia and early onset Alzheimer’s aged just 50. What an inspiring couple! Tony Husband, the cartoonist, whose own father had dementia, was also there, recording the afternoon’s events in cartoon! Thank you to Gina Awad, for organising such an uplifting afternoon with so many special people.

Dove Tree House - Snow

A huge thank you to all our wonderful care teams!

Although lovely to see the snow in Devon (a rare thing!) it has presented challenges for many. Thank you to all of our care teams for going above and beyond, to keep our residents safe, warm and well-fed during the past few days. Many people were stranded at work, so kindly stayed to work shifts that others (trapped at home!), were unable to cover. I’m always overwhelmed by the kindness, generosity and selflessness of people in times of need. Thank you, you lovely people!
