The staff and residents of Chollacott House in Tavistock, recently bid a fond farewell to Glynis Grace, who has been a carer at the home for the past 15 years. She was presented with a bronze hare from everyone at Stonehaven. We wish Glynis a very happy retirement and hope she pops in to see us from time to time!
Four members of the Stonehaven Support team based in Buckfastleigh will be running the ’80’s Retro Run’ on Sunday 19th March. This is a 10km run around Exeter City Centre, along the canal paths, with the finish line at Exeter Quay. Through sponsorship, we will be raising money for Age UK Exeter. Come along and support us! The race starts at 9am, so we are hoping to be at the finish line just after 10am. Or sponsor us at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/NathanStone2
….well, in the pudding anyway! Chollacott House in Tavistock celebrating St Valentine’s Day, with a romance inspired pud!
Dove Tree resident Joy Lovell was recently interviewed at the home, by BBC Spotlight about her memories of the bombing of Exeter during the First World War. The feature aired last night. Well done Joy! For anybody who missed the programme and would be interested to hear what Joy had to say, you can catch up on BBC IPlayer (‘Spotlight’ 3/1/17)
I have just been looking through some of the Christmas photographs from The Manor, our home in Exminster, and thought how lovely, cosy and festive this scene was. Thought I would share……
Last week, the staff and residents at Dove Tree House were treated to the wonderful sounds of the Exeter University Acapela Group.
Stonehaven were delighted to have been nominated in two categories at this years Western Morning New Business Awards – Business of the Year and Family Business of the Year. The awards ceremony was held last Thursday at The Holiday Inn, Plymouth. Sadly, we were not winners in either category this year, but were so thrilled to be recognised as one of the most successful businesses in the Southwest region, and indeed, the only care provider to be nominated. We were also there to present the award for the Best Community Contribution, won by The Daisy Garland of Totnes, a charity offering help and support to those whose lives are touched by drug resistant epilepsy. Congratulations to all the worthy winners!
How lovely to see so many of the local children joining in the the Halloween fun at The Manor! Pumpkins prepared by staff and residents lined the driveway of our Exminster home, inviting Trick or Treaters to call. Such a lovely community evening – it did cost us a fortune in sweets though!
