The Manor were privileged to be invited to the annual Bidfood catering conference. It was fantastic to see such an array of plant-based and gluten-free products available.

The Manor in Exminster welcomed their first visitors to the new Visitor Room yesterday to celebrate a resident’s birthday. The positive comments we have received since offering indoor visits, have been overwhelming. We are thrilled that we can offer residents and their families a warm, cosy and private place to meet.

I can’t believe how much fun they’ve been having at The Manor of late! Day of the Dead and Halloween celebrations – don’t be alarmed by the scissors in the head – a rather too realistic fancy dress prop! Pumpkins carving, cake baking and decorating, and Trick or Treating! And plenty of arts and crafts – painting dry leaves and driftwood for Autumn hanging baskets. Wonderful!
Residents enjoyed a trip down memory lane for the VJ (Victory over Japan) Day Celebrations on the 15th August. They watched a video and played music from 1945. They also enjoyed a truth session, answering questions about how it may have affected them as children or young adults. A few of the residents admitted to having American boyfriends and other shared such funny stories, they all in hoots of laughter! A lovely tea was served and the dining room beautifully decorated for the occasion.

This beautiful sunshine has meant that we can now facilitate socially distanced family visits, in the garden. It’s been so good for our residents to see family face to face. Residents at The Manor even enjoyed a visit from the ice-cream van!

This week, The Manor in Exminster have been sending photos of their residents holding up a messages for family. We’ve had some lovely emails and phone call back from them saying how much they loved this:
‘Many thanks to you and everyone for the loving care you give to Bett and all in your care at The Manor. I miss Bett terribly and to see her looking so well and happy has given us a great lift at a time when the news from up and down the country is so depressing. A view which will be shared by all when they get a photo of their loved ones I am sure. A big well done to all, I can imagine how stressful it must be for you and all our friends at this time and we can only say how much we admire you for your fortitude at this difficult time and this goes as well for your families who are supporting you.’
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Love to all.
