The wishing tree at The Manor is a wonderful idea, encouraging residents to think about something they have always wanted to do, but never had the opportunity. Heather is 85 and has recently recovered from a hip operation following a fall. She has always wanted to ride a horse. And yesterday, thanks to the Acorns & Squirrels Group, based at Oaklands Riding Centre in Alphington, her wish came true! It took eight people to get Heather onto the horse, but it was absolutely worth it, to see the joy on her face!
Stonehaven were invited to Coutts in London on Friday, to celebrate the inclusion of Primrose House in Knight Frank’s 2018 Luxury Care Home Guide. 100 of the most prestigious care homes across the county are featured in this beautifully presented guide, so it was a real honour to be there. Primrose House in Westward Ho! opened in September 2016. It’s location on the North Devon coast means that many of its 30 ensuite bedrooms enjoy views out to sea, as far as Saunton Sands and Lundy Island, on a clear day. The building was designed with the dementia resident in mind, with carefully chosen colours, lighting, textiles and lay-out. For more information about Primrose House, or to book an appointment to view, please call 01237 488023.
Staff and residents at Chollacott House and Drake enjoyed a wonderful fireworks display last night, from the warmth and comfort of the conservatory, whilst listening to ‘The Phantom of the Opera.’ Butternut squash and Chili Soup was served, followed by Parkin, a cake inextricably linked to the Guy Fawkes celebration, with the ‘Parkin’ being representative of the bonfire.
How exciting to be number 54 of the fastest growing businesses in the West! A lovely feature on Stonehaven in yesterday’s Western Morning News ‘Fast Growth 75’ supplement.
Really enjoying the Halloween photos that have been sent to me at Support Office this morning! It looks like a lot of fun was had at Dove Tree House in Exeter, with residents, staff and family members all getting into the spirit (pun!), with amazing costumes, pumpkin carving, spooky games and terrifying food!
Stonehaven have been shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Best Care Home Group’ category in the Caring UK Awards 2017. The awards evening on the 8th December will celebrate excellence throughout the industry. Stonehaven are one of 5 groups, shortlisted from 1300 entries. We are all incredibly excited!
On Sunday, the ladies of the Stonehaven Support Office took part in the Muddifords Court Cheese Run in aid of the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance. 180 people ran or walked the route from Burlescombe Village, along the beautiful Great Western Canal Path, to Muddifords Court Country House, where they enjoyed a family fun day! Bouncy castles, face painting, live music, cheese toasties and beer. It was a fantastic day, the sun shone and all the money raised went to the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance.
